Does this quote make sense to get engraved on the back of a compass?
My boyfriend is going on a long journey around the world so I want to get him a very nice antique-style compass with the following engraved on the back:
“Just like a compass and true north, we always seem to find each other”
Does that make sense or should it be phrased differently? If so, any suggestions?
It’s a cute sentiment, but if you are looking for technical accuracy- a compass doesn’t point to true north, it points to magnetic north.
So how about “A compass is attracted to magnetic north like we are attracted to each other.”
But I understand your literary license if you use “true north” but maybe your boyfriend will be impressed by your understanding of how a compass really works.
